Position Summary
The Mosaic Advisor provides leadership to the Mosaic student leadership team, supports Act 6 students, and serves as a support staff for the Student Life office functions. As a member of the Student Life Team, this position helps the department shape the student experience through engaging co-curricular inclusive programs and experiences. The Mosaic Advisor serves as a mentor to underrepresented student populations, and a facilitator for meaningful, thoughtful programming related to multiculturalism, inclusion, and diversity. They also support the Student Life Office through additional administrative support. This is a part-time, 38-week/9-month position at 15-20 hours per week, depending on the seasonal workload. This position can be focused solely on Mosaic at 10 hours a week, pending the job applicant’s availability and interest, position functions will adjust accordingly.
Essential Functions
- Serve as a Christian role model, providing mentorship and guidance in personal, spiritual, and academic development.
- Support Mosaic through the development of multicultural educational and social programs consistent with the mission, vision, and core themes of Ðǿմ«Ã½.
- Supervise and mentor Mosaic student team members through weekly 1-1’s with the Director and bi-weekly 1-1’s with the others, as well as weekly team meetings.
- Lead Mosaic’s student leadership selection, annual training, and annual retreat.
- Oversee Mosaic’s budget and operations, as needed.
- Support the Act 6 scholarship program through communication efforts, semesterly gathering, setting expectations, and administrative support.
- Provide 10 hours of administrative support to the Student Life Office.
- Meet bi-weekly with Dean of Students for support.
- Attend Student Life meetings and activities, as needed.
- Provide presence and support on campus in emergency or crisis situations as needed.
Education/Experience/Skills
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proven track record of working effectively with diverse populations and teams.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of multiculturalism, specifically in university, urban, and Pacific Northwest contexts.
- High level of initiative, planning, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience working in college student development, social services, education, or related field.
- Experience in mentoring college student leaders, strategic program development, and evaluation.
- Bilingual or multilingual.
Work Environment
- Indoor office setting with occasional outdoor responsibilities in varying weather conditions.
- Evening and weekend work required.
Physical Demands
The functions are usually performed while standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements. The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
Compensation
Based on education and experience, the position has a hiring pay of $18.00/hour.
