Charting the Future: Rowlanda Cawthon
We are getting excited about the progress on our Chapel Renovation campaign! Renewal of the building has kindled a fire in us for revival in the community. We believe that the renovated Worship Center will have a major role in encouraging our spiritual life as a community and leading us on to greater passion and discipline as we consecrate ourselves to the commitment of Jesus first, Jesus always.
Nobody illustrates the mark of that high calling better than Dr. Rowlanda Cawthon, dean of the College of Business at NU. She is well known for her fiery preaching, and those who know her personally recognize that her fire comes from deep within. She is a management scholar in academic life, but she is a spiritual leader in all of life, especially including the classroom, the consulting room, and the counseling session. She is as effective in one-on-one relationships as she is in the bully pulpit. As she warms to her theme, you will see the smoke begin and then the blaze. She is the very model of passionate consistency. And she’s not alone. Every member of her business faculty has the spiritual maturity to pastor a church, but walks in the calling to teach and practice business for the glory of God. That’s what a Christian university is about: integrating Christian faith and the testimony of Jesus into every area of life. Take time to watch Dr. Cawthon’s testimony. If you’ve wondered what a renovated chapel has to do with academic life at Northwest, she should answer your question pretty richly! You’ll be encouraged!
Thank you again for staying tuned to our continuing story. We are committed to a long obedience in the same direction—putting Jesus first, and always persisting in it.
