Charting the Future: New Year
As we begin a new year, we think again about the realization of our deepest desire and fondest hope: the Lord’s return. The Old Testament refers to the day of God’s final victory as “the day of the Lord” and when I hear the phrase “the year of our Lord,” hope rises up in me that this year might bring the day of Christ’s appearing in glory. But if Jesus doesn’t come back this year to commence His final victory, the next best thing we can hope for is revival in the church and awakening in our society.
This week’s blog entry discusses this current moment in American history, the so-called “dechurching of America.” It also tells about what we are doing at Ðǿմ«Ã½ to prepare for God’s victory in the future. “If Jesus tarries” (as we often used to say), we believe God will do something wonderful in our midst to bring America back to faith in God and membership in the churches. And someone will have to lead them. Right now, we believe, we are training the leaders of the Next Great Awakening in America.
We’re excited about what we see ahead. I’m including here a video about our new emerging vision statement. If you have three minutes, please take a look at it.
As always, we need your help. We’re looking forward to hosting our most committed supporters on February 23 for the President’s Banquet, an annual celebration dinner and fundraiser that truly resembles a worship service. We are also celebrating 90 Days of Prayer in these first three months of our 90th anniversary. Whether through giving or praying or sending students our way, we appreciate everything you do to support our mission and fulfill the Great Commission.
